FORMER actress and businesswoman Chen Xiaoxu died of breast cancer Sunday night in Shenzhen.
Chen, 42, passed away at 6:57 p.m. Sunday, a charity foundation named after her, which was founded Wednesday at her request, announced Thursday.
The charity foundation, with an initial fund of 50 million yuan (US$6.5 million), targets students from impoverished families and patients who cannot afford medical treatment.
Wang Yuanfeng, sister of Chen’s mother, said Chen’s husband Hao Tong, her sister and sister’s husband were with Chen when she passed away in an 18th floor room of a hotel building on Nanhai Thoroughfare in Nanshan District.
