醒狮的起源和习俗

and customs of dancing lion
舞狮是中国优秀的民间艺术，分为北狮和南狮，南狮又名醒狮。人们经常把朱砂涂在狮的眼睛上，象征给予狮子生命。点睛过后，狮子会变得生龙活虎，欢脱雀跃，象征着避开邪恶，吉祥如意。
Lion dance, as a type of Chinese excellent folk arts, can be broadly categorized into two styles, North lion and South lion. South lion dance is also known as Xing Shi (dancing lion). Cinnabar is usually pasted on the lion’s eyes, symbolizing to bring life to it. After painting the eyes, the lion will be full of vim and vigour, implying that it scares away evil spirits and to summons good luck and fortune.

福永醒狮的一个显著特点，是以桩、柱、钢线作为表演道具，以此象征崇山峻岭及铁索桥。在表演中，以眼睛和口型的张合表现狮子喜、怒、哀、乐的情绪神态，也是福永醒狮的一大特色。
One of Fuyong Xing Shi show’s characteristics is that stakes and pillars are performed as high mountains and lofty hill, while steel wires as a chainbridge. Another feature is that the dancing lion conveys its emotions of pleasure, anger, sorrow and joy via its eyes and mouth.
面对五彩缤纷的醒狮
外教们按捺不住心中的好奇
也穿上醒狮服
体验了一把舞狮子的趣味
刹那间，年的味道便出来了
Facing the colorful lions
foreign teachers put on the lion costume out of their curiosity
to experience the fun of the lion dance
In a flash, the new year’s atmosphere emerged
充满生命力的醒狮
象征着吉祥如意
更寓意着人们以后的生活
蒸蒸日上、欣欣向荣！
The vigorous lion symbolizes good luck
and implies that people's future life are thriving!
