北京公社创立于2004年，第一个展览开启于2005年的草场地，2006年搬至目前所在地北京798艺术区。建立伊始，北京公社即把推动当代艺术发展与阐释为己任，以诸多艺术家的群展和个展探讨了当下中国文化现状，呈现当代艺术在中国的多元地貌。多位代表性的中国当代艺术早期实践者如张晓刚、宋冬、尹秀珍、洪浩、萧昱、刘建华、海波等人都曾在这里举办过艺术中生涯极为重要的个人展览，而近十年来与胡晓媛、梁硕、梁远苇、马秋莎、尚一心、宋拓、王光乐、王鲁炎、谢墨凛、杨心广、赵要、周轶伦、葛宇路、王礼军等人的紧密合作则使北京公社成为关注及扶持本土力量的先行者。与此同时，北京公社亦将在全球语境下理解和推动当代艺术视为重要的工作议程，与国际策展人及国际艺术家的合作已陆续在画廊展开。2018年，北京公社为著名英国艺术家、特纳奖得主理查德·迪肯举办了他在中国的首次个人展览
Founded in 2004, Beijing Commune is now located in 798 Art Factory, Beijing. Its initial programs were mainly group shows exploring various currents in contemporary art while now it primarily focuses on solo shows to carry on the in-depth research. Beginning with a core list of established artists, the gallery has maintained an unparalleled awareness of developments in the community, and has responded by infusing young artists and new topics of discussion into the program. It fosters a space where the most influential figures in the Chinese art scene including Zhang Xiaogang, Song Dong, Yin Xiuzhen, Hong Hao, Xiao Yu, Liu Jianhua, Hai Bo have launched their watershed solo exhibitions in their careers, while simultaneously serving as the incubator for artists including Hu Xiaoyuan, Liang Shuo, Liang Yuanwei, Ma Qiusha, Shang Yixin, Song Ta, Wang Guangle, Wang Luyan, Xie Molin, Yang Xinguang, Zhao Yao, Zhou Yilun, Ge Yulu and Wang Lijun who are here free to create the new visions of Chinese contemporary art. In 2018, Beijing Commune held Richard Deacon’s first solo exhibition in China.

The 2021 Art Shenzhen will be held as scheduled in Hall 6 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from September 9 to September 12, 2021. The exhibition will bring together 72 top galleries and professional art institutions from 28 cities in 12 countries around the world. Among these attendants, 26 galleries will be bringing brand-new artistic aesthetic experiences to the public at Art Shenzhen for the first time. 2021 Art Shenzhen is looking forward to your participation with more attendant galleries, more exhibition sections and more academic content!
