2021观澜论坛丨马丁·巴延斯：数字时代的国际项目

2021年9月23日至25日，由中国版画博物馆主办的2021观澜论坛以线上会议的形式成功举办。2021观澜论坛共分为四场，共有来自16个国家的30位艺术家及专家学者参与，他们围绕“坚守相望——数字化时代的版画传承与交流”这一命题进行了广泛交流和深入讨论。

本次论坛中，来自世界各地的版画家和版画机构负责人发表了他们对疫情影响下，以及数字化时代背景下国际版画交流和发展之路的真知灼见。

我毕业于比利时根特的安特卫普皇家艺术学院。该学院是根特大学的合作机构，现在已经更名为“文学院”。我在那里学习了平面设计、素描、绘画，以及与平面艺术相关的所有学科。在我的作品中，自然起到了非常重要的作用。我希望能在自然和人类科技之间找到一种完美的和谐。

I studied at the Royal Academy of fine Arts in Ghent,

Belgium. The Academy has now been renamed as

“School of Arts”, an association partner of Ghent

University. I studied graphic design, drawing and

painting as well as all disciplines of graphic art. In my works, nature plays a very important role. I try to find a perfect harmony between nature and human

technology.

我在同一所大学里当了40多年的教授，长期担任设计系主任一职。曾受邀在比利时、美国、土耳其、北塞浦路斯、波兰和中国的30所大学担任客座教授。

As a professor, I have worked for more than 40 years at the same university. I was the chairman of the Design Department for a long time. I’ve been invited as a guest professor in 30 different universities in Belgium, America, Turkey, North Cyprus, Poland and China.

在我的教学生涯中，我一直认为国际合作非常重要。这是交流经验和新知识的极佳机会。如今，在我结束教学生涯多年后，我仍与以前的国际同行和朋友们保持着联系，不断受到他们的启发。在本次论坛中，我想向大家介绍这些年来达成的一些国际项目。

During my pedagogical career, I have always found international cooperation extremely important. It is an ideal opportunity for the exchange of experiences and new knowledge. Today, years after my active teaching career, I still have an inspiring contact with most of my former international colleagues. At this conference, I would like to explain some international projects that have been realized over the years.

Newspaper Projects

作为一种通信手段，报纸具有时效性。一旦人们读完了文章，报纸就失去了具体的功能，很快会被丢弃。但作为艺术家表达情感和思想的形式之一，报纸可以重获新生，发挥新的作用。

通过这个项目，我们希望引导人们重新注意到已被遗忘的报纸。

Newspaper, as means of communication, has a limited life span. Once the articles have been read, the newspaper loses its specific function and would soon be disposed. Nevertheless, it can obtain a new life and receive a new function by serving as the layer on which artists express their feelings and ideas. With this project, we hope to draw attention to the news that has already been forgotten.

First daily news project “DIYALOG”

在2008年，我与31位土耳其艺术家合作完成了这个项目。在该项目中，哈瑟普·佩克塔斯教授是我的得力助手，他写道：“最初马丁邀请我合作时，我有些迟疑，因为公众可能会对在报纸上创作的艺术作品持怀疑态度。但当我看到马丁在一月份的《土耳其民族报》上创作的作品时，我就被深深地吸引了。”该项目共持续了31天，每天都有一位土耳其艺术家进行创作，而我提出了对这31天的设想。通过邮局邮寄报纸，这个项目并不难实现。圣尼克拉斯城市博物馆在比利时组织并举办了该项目的展览，伊希克大学则在伊斯坦布尔举办了展览。

In 2008, I did the project in cooperation with 31 Turkish artists. Prof. Hasip Pektas who is like my right hand in this project wrote that, “When Martin asked me to work with him I was questionable, forward looking to the reactions of the public that would be skeptical about art being made on a newspaper. But when I saw the work that Martin made on the January ‘Milliyet’ newspapers I was fascinated.” The project was running for 31 days, everyday there was another Turkish artist at work. Against that I gave my vision for 31 days. The project was easy to realize as the newspapers were sent by postal mail. The City Museum of Sint-Niklaas organized and presented this exhibition in Belgium and the Isik University presented the exhibition in Istanbul.

Second daily news project “NEVER EVER FOREVER”

我在成都的朋友董小庄提出了在中国开展同样的活动的想法。这将会是东西方之间的对话。翻开报纸，人们会发现，如今实在是太缺乏正面新闻了。于是我们决定。只用正面新闻来进行创作，并将其作为这一项目的起点。虽然语言不同可能会造成一定的障碍和误解，但我感觉到东西方艺术家处理新闻的方式有着明显的不同。该项目由60幅图像组成，它们象征着2010年6月的正面信息，并在成都著名的艺术酒店展出。

My friend Dong Xiaozhuang from Chengdu came up with the idea to start the same initiative in China. It is dialogue between East and West. Turn over our present day newspapers, the lack of good news is very striking. For us, this was a good reason to decide to only use positive news as the starting point of our project. The language barrier might have distorted my view, but I have the impression that there are clear differences in the way eastern and western artists deal with the news. The project consists of sixty images symbolizing a positive message of June, 2010. The exhibition of the project took place in the prestigious Art Hotel in Chengdu.

Third daily news project “CONTINENTAL”

这个项目创作于2011年。我很高兴能作为策展人参与并支持第三个每日新闻项目。它主要是由学生们创作完成的，参与的国家包括了伊朗、塞浦路斯、中国和土耳其。

This project was realized in 2011. I was very pleased to participate and support the third edition of this project as a curator. This new daily news was reserved for students. The participated countries include Iran, Cyprus, China and Turkey.

Fourth daily news project “EAST MEETS WEST”

该项目创作于2019年。

来自比利时、波兰、保加利亚、塞浦路斯、韩国、中国和印度的许多大学都参与了此项目。在中国，我们与大连大学、四川师范大学和天津美术学院开展了合作。在印度，我们则与库鲁克舍特拉大学开展了合作。展览将在波兰、塞浦路斯等国家举办。

This project was realized in 2019.

Universities in Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria ,Cyprus, Korea, China and India have participated in this project. For China, we announced the participation of the Dalian University, Sichuan Normal University, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. For India, we coorperated with Krurkshetra University. Exhibitions will be organized in Poland, Cyprus and other countries.

“不寻常的消息”项目

“Unusual Message” Project

这个项目创作于2018-2019年。它的灵感来源于我对个人经历的反思。2017年夏末，我受同事塞尼赫·恰武什奥卢博士兼教授的邀请，来到塞浦路斯开展版画工作坊活动。在此期间，我们突发奇想，希望启动一个新项目，作为《每日新闻》系列项目的后续活动。波斯尼亚、黑塞哥维那、中国、塞浦路斯、法国、伊朗、韩国、科索沃、墨西哥、波兰、罗马尼亚、俄罗斯、土耳其和美国的13所大学热情地回应了我们的邀请。被这些大学选中的艺术家需要将日常物品转变成非凡的作品，共有十个主题可供选择，各个参与院校将在自己校内举办展览。

This project was realized in 2018-2019. It is a reflection on a personalized experience. In the late summer of 2017, I was invited by my colleague Professor DR. Senih Cavusoglu in Cyprus to do a graphic workshop there. During our time together, we had the idea to start up a new project as a follow-up of the series of Daily news projects. Thirteen universities responded enthusiastically to the invitation including universities from Bosnia, Herzegovina, China, Cyprus, France, Iran, Korea, Kosovo, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, Turkey and USA. The artists selected by the universities were asked to transform everyday objects into something extraordinary. The choice could be made from ten topics. Exhibitions will be organized in each of the participating universities.

双人藏书票项目

Ex libris duo project

2008年10月，我参加了在北京举行的国际藏书票大会。我遇到了来自中国各省的艺术家，我向他们提议合作开展双人藏书票项目，他们都非常感兴趣。这一项目十分独特，以前从未有人做过。通过这种方式，我们为东西方藏书票的创作建立了联系。陈浩、董小庄、刘硕海、牛明明、张家瑞和张子虎等艺术家都参与其中。每件藏书票作品的格式是相同的，都被划分为了相同的两个部分，中国艺术家负责完成左边的部分，而我负责完成右边相应的部分。这些图像通过互联网从中国发送至比利时，又从比利时发送回中国。目前，双方的艺术家都对藏书票创作的结果感到十分满意。

技法：计算机合成设计

版本：6幅版画，各印制100份

此项目得到了中国藏书票协会和比利时藏书票协会Graphia的大力支持。

In October, 2008, I was an participant of the International Ex libris Congress in Beijing. I met a lot of interesting artists from almost all of the Chinese provinces. I have done the proposal to them to make an ex libris together with a duo ex libris. This project is very unique and has never been done before. In this way, we made a connection between East and West. These artists have taken part in the project: Chen Hao, Dong Xiaozhuang, Liu Shuohai, Niu Mingming, Zhang Jiarui and Zhang Zihou. Every ex libris has the same format and the entire piece is divided into 2 equal parts. The Chinese artists have started the work on the left part and my responds would be on the right part. The images are send via internet several times from China to Belgium and visa versa. In this moment, the two artist are satisfied about the result of the ex libris.

Edition : 6 different prints in an edition of 100 copies.
